This is certainly the heart of Medellin and the place tourists are most likely to encounter upon arrival. The area around the central Parque Lleras is Medellin’s main entertainment district and is home to the most well-known clubs and bars in the region, as well as the most popular hotels and some of the best restaurants in town. Of course, living here will be slightly more expensive due to the number of visitors, but excellent transport links connect El Poblado to other areas of the city. La Florida and Patio Bonito, areas located away from Parque Lleras, are usually preferred by remote workers looking to be in this neighborhood but not necessarily on the main party streets.
This is one of the best neighborhoods for remote workers in Medellin looking to stay for longer in the city. The area’s tree-lined streets are home to many great restaurants, cafes and local shops, even though the area itself is largely residential and certainly feels more authentic than the El Poblado district. Laureles-Estadio is regarded as a generally safe area for visitors to the city and is indeed one of the more affluent neighborhoods of Medellin. Remote workers are likely to find some of the best coworking spaces in this area. Expect rents to be high here but also to enjoy a great quality of life among a great part of the city’s remote worker community.
This large district of Medellin is located opposite El Poblado on the eastern side of the city across the river. This middle-class area has in recent years, with the growing popularity of the city among international travelers, become popular among remote workers. The area houses the University of Medellin and lots of green spaces and cafes popular with young professionals. The area is very well-connected to the rest of the city via public transport and offers more affordable rent prices. Popular neighborhoods for remote workers in Belen include Lomas del los Bernal and Los Alpes.
Envigado is a great neighborhood for remote workers in Medellin looking to be away from the congestion of city. Located south of the main central neighborhoods, Envigado provides a much more authentic experience of life in Antioquia. The area has a strong working-class culture and its churches and squares are charming spaces where local congregate regularly. The area has good restaurants, bars and cafes and even has its own entertainment district, with a distinct feel to the intense venues in central Medellin. Envigado is technically outside the city of Medellin, but maintains excellent transport links into the city by metro. Rents and the cost of living in general are likely to be much cheaper here.
