Translating into "Lesser Town" or "Little Town", Malรก Strana is a wonderful neighbourhood for those looking to be in the center of the city but not necessarily at the heart of the tourist hub. This area is home to Prague's beautiful castles and the architecture of even the residential homes in this area is striking. Lots of quieter bars, cafรฉs and restaurants can be found in this area, although it can get somewhat busy with tourists during the day. The area is quite expensive and lies at the foot of a hill, so expect some steep climbs.

The Old Town in Prague is the main touristic center of the city and is home to some of Europe's most emblematic architecture. This area caters heavily to tourists but you will also find a lot of great bars, restaurants and cafes within close proximity. The area is well connected to the rest of the city via public transport. Rents and the cost of living will be higher in this area due to its centrality and importance within the city.

The "New Town" in Prague feels only somewhat more modern than the Old Town and Lesser Town, with great transport connections to the rest of the city and sleek restaurants and bars. This part of the city is still very central and popular with tourists due to its proximity to the Old Town and most of the city's attractions. Expect some loud nights in this area of the city. Things here can be more expensive, in relation to the rest of the city.

This hip part of Prague is a favorite among young expat families and remote workers. The area is colorful, edgy and has some of the city's best neighborhoods cafรฉs and restaurants. It remains within walking distance of the Old Town and is very well connected via public transportation. Rents and cost of living here is slightly lower and the lifestyle feels more local and community-based, but it is still located very close to the main tourist hubs of the city.

A traditionally working-class area, this part of town is quickly modernizing and offers a number of fantastic local cafรฉs. The MeetFactory, located in Smรญchov, has become a hub for young professionals to experience and share artistic passions in the city. The area is mostly residential, with good cafรฉs and bars and a large shopping mall. The area is a good place to live away from the center of the city (about 25 minutes by foot) and for a quieter experience of Prague. This area will be cheaper.

This up-and-coming neighborhood provides the most authentic alternative for those looking to experience Czech culture completely. Another traditionally working-class neighborhood, ลฝiลพkov is filled with cool bars, cafes and local restaurants. Expect a more relaxed vibe in this area popular with families and locals. Rents here will be cheaper and access to the center of the city is still extremely easy via tram and metro.

Among the former working-class neighborhoods of Prague, Karlรญn stands out for its elegance and character. Recent refurbishments after a 2008 flood have created a mixed area of modern buildings and traditional Czech architecture. Great restaurants and bars can be found in this area, although prices might be a little more expensive. The area is indeed well connected to the rest of the city via public transport and rents here will certainly be cheaper than in the center of Prague. Expect quieter nights and a very relaxed nightlife scene.

This part of town has been acclaimed as Prague's coolest. It houses some of the city's best galleries, exhibitions and is quickly emerging as the main creative center. Living here provides for a more local experience, with more local cafรฉs and restaurants readily available. Latna Park offers a fantastic green space in the city, and its summer beer garden is renowned across Europe and the world. Rents here will be cheaper but are on the up, given the neighborhood's position as a rapidly gentrifying neighborhood. Beware that transportation into the center of the city can be difficult to find in some parts of this neighborhood.
