Despite being a relatively small city, there are still several wonderful neighborhoods for remote workers in Lviv. This western Ukrainian city has become increasingly popular among digital nomads because of its beauty, affordability and strong cultural identity. Its main neighborhoods offer all the necessary amenities for a comfortable life, and valuable features such as laptop-friendly cafes and coworking spaces and fast wifi are readily available around Lviv.
Certainly, the cityโs architecture is also a huge draw - its mix of central and eastern European styles make for an eclectic range of aesthetics in Lvivโs UNESCO-protected historical center. Of course, remote workers in Lviv for the first time will want to spend time researching all the cityโs areas before choosing one to settle in.
Below, we highlight some of the most popular neighborhoods for remote workers in Lviv.
Halytskyi is the cityโs main central area and, as such, one of the most popular neighborhoods for remote workers in Lviv. The area is home to the cityโs Historical Center, known for several iconic landmarks such as High Castle, St. Georgeโs Cathedral and Market Square. Certainly, this area is the most popular with tourists in the city but is also filled with amenities such as restaurants, cafes and bars. It is a great place to live if youโre looking to be in the heart of the action and close to the cityโs emblematic and eclectic architectural gems. This neighborhood also has a vibrant nightlife and is home to the cityโs art scene, including the opera and ballet which are based here. Expect the area to be busy and for rents to be higher than in other neighborhoods.
Sykhivskyi is the largest and most modern neighborhood for remote workers in Lviv. This area enjoys the most up-to-date infrastructure in the city, as well as the most accessible transport links and comfortable housing options. In general, the area feels more residential and quiet than the nearby Historical Center, but youโll also be able to find restaurants, cafes and bars in Sykhivskyi. The areas closer to Halystkyi, in the norther part of Sykhivskyi, will provide the best housing options for remote workers, and rents here can expected to be slightly lower than in the central district.
This is another well-liked urban area in Lviv. Frankivskyi is close to the city center and enjoys access to plenty of wonderful green spaces, including the Altay (Sandy) Lakes park which provides an excellent venue for picnics and fresh air right in the heart of the city. The area surrounding Altay Lakes is also the best place to live in Frankivskyi, as it enjoys great access to transport links and the infrastructure and housing are generally up to standard. Overall, the neighborhood feels authentic and welcoming.
Large and somewhat removed from the center of the city, Lychakivskyi is another neighborhood for remote workers in Lviv to consider. It is a great area of the city for those looking for a more relaxed environment away from the tourist hub but still close to some of the cityโs most important historical sites. This neighborhood is home to some of the cityโs best green spaces, including the Lviv University Botanical Gardens and Lychakivskyi Park. The area of Pohuljanka, situated in this district, is a well-liked area among remote workers for its easy access to the massive Pohuljanka Park and nearby cafes and bars.
