The system is now a really convenient for remote workers to get around Panama City, with modern buses equipped with air conditioning. Panama Cityโs Metrobus network operates in a star system - all routes depart from the Albrook Terminal in the center of the city and span out across other neighborhoods before returning. A really useful route for remote workers will be the Metrobus service serving Panama Viejo via Av Balboa - M. Mariscos which serves the Historical Center area as well as major commercial centers and markets in the city. You can also ride the Metrobus using the MetroCard for only 0.25USD each way.
Uber is legal and active here, making it one of the easiest ways for remote workers to get around Panama City. Indeed, this may be the best way to get around the city initially if it is your first time in Panama City or if your Spanish is still less than basic. In general, Uber is considered safe here and rides across the main parts of the city should cost no more than 5USD. Equally, yellow city taxis are readily available around town and provide a cheaper alternative to Uber services. If you take a yellow taxi, it is always a good idea to check if the meter is running correctly and, if it is not, to establish a fare before boarding.
