This is the most frequent, and perhaps most convenient, way for remote workers to get around Cape Town. You will see these minivan-type vehicles all around the city with routes spanning the entire metropolis. Before you board one of these, it will be a good idea to know where exactly you are going with a good degree of confidence. Then, youโll want to wave down a minibus that has a destination in the general direction of where you are headed - you can see the end stops of each minibus written at the front or the conductor will tell you. Once you board you should pay your fare (around 10-15ZAR) directly to the driver or fare collector in cash. To get off, let the driver or fare collector know.
Minibus taxis are a convenient way for remote workers to get around Cape Town because they are so readily available and prices are so low. Nonetheless, visitors to the city should be extra careful on popular routes where pick-pocketing might occur and also on less frequented routes where a visitor may find themselves uncomfortably out of place. Use this method if you are a seasoned traveler or extra-confident with public transport use.
