El Raval is a neighborhood close to the center of the city and to the coast. In recent years it has gentrified into a artistic enclave for hipsters and skaters enjoying the area's strong alternative vibe. It houses some of the city's foremost artistic institutions, including the Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art. Street art lines a good number of the interior streets of this neighborhood, and La Rambla offers some of the best food options in town as well as access to the local Boqueria Market and cool cafes and tapas bars.
