El Poble Sec
Close to center Bus Metro Train
This edgy neighborhood offers some of the best entertainment in the city. El Poblenou

This multicultural area feels authentic and local as it is mostly residential but still hosts a number of great cafes and local eateries, El Poblenou is within walking distance to Barcelona's best beaches and, in the style of this unique city, has some beautiful gothic architecture right in the heart of the famous Sant-Martรญ district. The famous Rambla de Poblebou offers incomparable street food and local cuisine options. The area is very well-connected to the rest of the city and is central yet not overwhelmed by tourists. It is a favorite among visitors looking for a quieter, and more authentic experience of Barcelona.
Gracia

Gracia has recently become one of Barcelona's trendiest areas, with a great number of indie boutique stores, and cool bars in the Catalan style, all within the backdrop of elegant boulevards and art nouveau architecture. This large neighborhood extends all the way up to the hills to the north of the city, providing good access to nature. On the whole, the neighborhood is quiet and much less touristic than others around it. Rents in this area will be cheaper than elsewhere. Gracia remains well communicated with the rest of Barcelona and has a number of good coworking spaces and laptop-friendly cafes.
Zona Alta

This is Barcelona's uptown, upmarket area. The area is comprised of three main neighborhoods - Sarria, Sant Gervasi, and Pedralbes. This area ia favourite among locals for its green spaces, low levels of traffic and generally good transportation options. These neighborhoods have great access to restaurants, bars, cafes and some good nightlife venues. Expect housing in this area to be expensive, but this is certainly the best option for comfort and nature in Barcelona.
La Barceloneta

This tiny neighborhood sits right on the beach, tucked away next to the port. It's a popular place to live for those who want to have access to the sea while still being close to the city's center. The streets are full of bars and restaurants, low-rise apartment buildings and a traditional atmosphere.
El Clot

El Clot is a hidden gem in Barcelona's central Sant Martรญ district. The area has a strong community feel and offers access to great restaurants and shopping malls. It is the city's oldest neighborhood and remains largely residential, providing for a truly authentic experience within Barcelona. The area's main park, Parc del Clot, offers a natural refuge close to the heart of the city. This area's rentals will be cheaper and more accessible than most other neighborhoods, although increasing popularity will have pushed prices up.
El Born

This area will indeed be very popular among tourists and rents will be expensive, but expect to find everything you need and enjoy the best Barcelona has to offer.
El Raval

El Raval is a neighborhood close to the center of the city and to the coast. In recent years it has gentrified into a artistic enclave for hipsters and skaters enjoying the area's strong alternative vibe. It houses some of the city's foremost artistic institutions, including the Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art. Street art lines a good number of the interior streets of this neighborhood, and La Rambla offers some of the best food options in town as well as access to the local Boqueria Market and cool cafes and tapas bars.
